Claudio Nicoli

Vita

Claudio Nicoli was born in San Giovanni in Persiceto near Bologna in 1958. It was there, in the capital of Emilia-Romagna, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the field of sculpture. At the moment, he lives and works in Umbria, in Casiglione del Lago in the Province of Perugia. Nicoli prefers terracotta and bronze for both his large and smaller works. His museum background is that of Marino Marini, who looked back on archaic and Etruscan sculpture. However, Nicoli is not committed to the past. A sculptor of the 20th century, he gets his inspiration from Apollo's beauty and Dionysus's madness. As a matter of fact, the myth is part of his unconscious relationship with the world of dreams. Claudio Nicoli is a timeless sculptor. Thanks to its poetic sensibility, he can compare with the masters who, over the centuries, have created the large museum that is our art history.
