Christian Awe
Vita
Christian Awe is one of Germany’s leading contemporary artists. His distinctive works are characterised by extraordinary colour intensity, dynamic compositions and a fascinating fusion of abstraction and gestural painting. Vibrant fields of colour, expressive forms and powerful contrasts lend his works an immediate, almost pulsating energy. Awe moves with ease between painting, architecture and large-scale art projects. His works are not only found in exhibitions and private collections, but also shape prestigious and high-profile public spaces. His notable projects include works in the Bellevue area, as well as large-scale art and architectural projects in which his paintings unfold their impressive impact within the space. Christian Awe’s art is characterised by his interplay with light, colour and movement. His works invite the viewer to discover ever-changing forms and colour spaces. In doing so, he succeeds in combining an expressive zest for life with a contemporary, architecturally powerful visual language. The Bech Art Gallery is delighted to present a selection of works by Christian Awe, thereby introducing an artist whose works develop a distinctive presence both as standalone artworks and in dialogue with modern spaces.
